A Rescue Story

Laney came to Sunny Bear Rescue as an abuse case, frightened of being inside and unsure whether a home could ever feel safe. Rather than force her, we built her a doghouse and made sure she always had the choice to come indoors when she was ready.

It took four months before Laney chose to come inside and six months before she felt safe enough to sleep indoors at night. More than two years later, she is still with us, continuing to grow, trust, and move through life at her own pace.

Laney may one day decide she is ready for a home of her own, but there is no deadline attached to her healing. She is welcome at Sunny Bear Rescue forever if that is what she needs.
