Rescue Story

Rocco came to Sunny Bear Rescue after being pulled from an overcrowded shelter where the barking never seemed to stop and the days all started blending together. Big dogs like Rocco are often some of the hardest to place, and after a while he had started shutting down emotionally just trying to survive the stress around him.

When he first arrived, Rocco acted tough. He gave the whole “I’m a serious guy” routine for about twenty minutes before immediately becoming attached to every human willing to give him attention.

Turns out beneath all that muscle and confidence was just a giant goofball who wanted love, snacks, and somebody to throw a toy approximately 4,000 times a day.

As Rocco settled into rescue life, his playful personality exploded. He learned how to relax, how to trust, and most importantly, how to just be a dog again. Before long, a family met him and completely fell in love with his loyal heart and oversized personality.

Today Rocco spends his days running, playing, and living the kind of life every rescue dog deserves.
